Mano Le Tough (Live) & Mark Le Tough (DJ set)

Yeppidy this Easter Saturday April 11th we welcome two Irishmen living in Berlin back to our shores, for what’s looking like one of our best parties to date. MANO LE TOUGH and MARK LE TOUGH are two aurally enhanced human raver hybrids, who seem to like similar music to what we like, which is always good as we like people who like music that we like, you know like ?

MANO (real name Niall Mannion) originally hails from the sleepy seaside village of Greystones. Destined to spend his life teaching French to enthusiastic school children (where enthusiastic means anything but), Mano decided to ditch his 2nd love for his 1st love: creating electronic beats in the wondrously open minded mecca of Berlin. His influences vary between Detroit techno, deep house, nu-disco, minimal and dub techno and with his music being played by everyone from Laurent Garnier to Lindstrom & Prins Thomas, it’s not unexpected that Mano has been invited to play in some decent clubs, such as Moog and Fellini (Barcelona), Bar 25, Tape, Club der Visonaire, Cookies, Scala, Picknick (Berlin), and the Twisted Pepper, Button Factory, POD and Underground (Dublin), Rote Sonne (Munich), and at everybody’s favourite festival on this fair isle: Electric Picnic.

A participant at the Red Bull Music Academy 2008 in Barcelona, Mano attended lectures from industry bigwigs Marco Passarani, Joel Martin (Silent Village), Moritz von Oswald (Rhythm & Sound, Basic Channel), Wolfgang Voigt (Kompakt) and Tom Oberheim (Oberheim Electronics) as well as spending time in studio with the likes of Mark Prichard (Harmonic 313), Benji B and Christian Vogel.

As a producer Mano’s 1st release Inside Animal Minds came out in Summer ‘08 on Berlin’s District of Corruption, his Warhorn EP is due for release in April ‘09 on on Prins Thomas’ Internasjonal and some more tracks are due for release in ‘09 including an EP on Hamburg’s hotly tipped Mirau Musik.

I don’t really have any info on this Mark Le Tough guy, he’s played on the same bill as Aeroplane, Manuel Tur and Black Devil Disco Club, and I know he can play some allright music if you butter him up nicely beforehand.

Check the guys out on Easter Saturday, doors from 10pm, with tax a nicely normal €10.
