Some Albums for August

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Nice interview with the Subway guys atop their new album Subway II released recently on Soul Jazz Records. If you haven’t gotten a copy, do yourself a favour and order it now. Big thanks for Donal Dineen for picking up on this one and his amazing set(s) at Airbound!

Another one on the player this week is Kompakt Total 10, which as always contains some mind alteringly brilliant music alongside some not-so-good cheesy stuff. Personal highlights:

Wasserman - “Berg Und Tal” (instrumental)

Reinhard Voigt - “Am Limit”

The Field - “The More I Do” (Thomas Fehlmann mix)

And speaking of The Field, how did we all miss his new album Yesterday and Today ? Big props to Eoin at Beyond the Big Wave for making sure we don’t miss such gems! One of these days I’ll muster up the courage to drop some of these in the club.

The Field - “Leave It”

Field - “Yesterday & Today”

The Field - “Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime”

Also the guys at BTBW have linked to a rather interesting mix by Michael Mayer: Kompakt - The Early Years (1998-2004). Check out their blog for more a much more eloquent description than I could hope to achieve!

And that’s enough future reaching music for a Tuesday I think :)

Yapacc (Live) + LowerState Residents / Sat 22nd Aug

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Yep indeedy, our next gig welcomes back our man in Berlin YAPACC. Last time he played for us he totally rocked the show, so it’s a little treat in store for anyone who makes it down in between our big gig with Move D next month. Yapacc’s organic live sound describes a wide bow hitting minimal funk and melodic techno, all flavoured with a funky-melodic character. Two resident sets from our men Ruari and Audiofeen will warm your tender ears up :)
