Aruba

Artisit and LowerState presents a special once-off gig in the intimate setting of upstairs at Nimmos Restaurant on Friday Oct 10th. Galway’s sleeper producer and record label owner ARUBA is coming to play in the unique venue. Despite being a Galweigan, Aruba is a man little known on Galway’s clubbing scene as he has never really played here before. He has been producing for years and it is safe to say his experience exceeds his reputation many times over.

Aruba aka Darran Nugent is the driving force behind the successful Irish house label, Elevation Recordings. Darran set up the Galway based label in 2001 and since then has built a strong reputation for quality releases from a wide variety of talented international producers. These range from the mighty Fish go Deep and Milton Jackson, to new-wave Chymera, Pablo Bolivar, Corrugated Tunnel, Shur-i-kan and Tigerskin. Support for their releases comes from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Kerri Chandler, Silicone Soul, Funk D’Void and Jimpster.

As a producer Darran first cut his remix teeth for the legendary but now defunct Toko imprint (home to the likes of Attaboy & Weekender). Remixes soon followed on David Duriez’s influential Brique Rouge label out of Paris as well as remixes for artists like Finland’s Sasse (Freestyle Man), Funky Transport, fellow Irishmen Fish Go Deep and seasoned deep house maestro Calum Walker (Fresh & Low). His own productions surfaced on a variety of underground house labels like Exun (Germany), Hipp E’s Siesta (US) and The Rurals’s Peng imprint among others. Most recently Darran his remixed Soma regular Marco Bernardi, Scope (Ric McClelland) on Germany’s Plastic City, Timmy Stewart on Julian Sanza’s Heartbeat Revolutions (Argentina) and Mr. Jones on Night Drive, Germany.

This is the first chance for Galway clubbers to experience what Aruba and his label are about. Doors a steal at €5 and open at 11pm with support from LowerState residents. For more information check outhttp://www.lowerstate.ieAruba’s Myspace and Elevation Recordings Myspace.

Also a tasty mix from the man himself over on Darran’s Myspace :)
